54:365 awesome knife

54:365 awesome knife

had dinner at Commonwealth tonight (full post to come soon). the knives here were awesome. for those who are not observant, the sharp part points toward the table top. this is fantastic for those of you who, like me, are scared of knives and fear accidentally slicing your fingers.

53:365 better than slippers

53:365 better than slippers

i've been wearing what you would consider traditional house slippers and found that they suck in every way possible. i find myself shuffling my feet in order to keep the dang things on and they've flattened out so quickly that i now deem them useless. i used to have a pair of house "slippers" that looked like cowboy boots but were still soft. so now i've found the alternative to that. these hot pink booty things (that are typically the colors i would avoid) somehow landed in my shopping cart and i love them. they're comfy and i don't have to shuffle around to keep them on.

B St and Vine

i love bruschetta and all things on a crostini. it's pretty hard to go wrong with a nicely crisped piece of bread with an assortment of delicious toppings. in fact whenever bruschetta is ordered as an appetizer, i sort of regret having to share it with my company. i would much rather just eat the heaping plate full of piled high tomatoes, olive oil and basil myself. thank god i have Izelle to credit for telling me about B St and Vine

at B St. they offer sort of a bruschetta tasting. for $12 you can choose four from their list of fifteen or so tasty options. of the topping choices my favorites are:
-proscuitto, figs and marscapone
-brie, apples and pecans
-salmon, capers and marscapone
-gorgonzola with honey

i got all of the aforementioned except instead of the gorgonzola and honey i got a caprese because it wasn't feeling like a potent cheese sort of day.

you can certainly order this as an appetizer to share but i recommend getting it for yourself because you won't want to have to fight for the last piece. i highly recommend this place for wine and bruschetta. i can't speak for the rest of the food because i can't seem to tear myself away from the bruschetta when i come here.

happy eatings!!

52:365 which Main St is better?

52:365 which Main St is better?

walking through San Mateo earlier today, i ran into these mirroring Main St signs and thought they'd provide a good picture of the day. i took two and can't decide which one i like better. i'm leaning towards the second one but i couldn't choose just one.

51:365 sweet tooth fix

51:365 sweet tooth fix

i've got a chronic sweet tooth problem that needs to be fixed. i really should stop eating so many sweets. they become addicting and really are not necessary on a daily basis. but on most days i forget about those sentiments and just fix the sweet tooth by finding something that sends me towards the path to diabetes. today i chose macaroons from a cute little cafe in Japantown called YakiniQ. to the left is a passion fruit macaroon and to the right is an earl grey macaroon. both delicious. and if you're wondering whether i actually ate the whole thing even though they sat on a very publicly used table, the answer is that i did indeed. are you wincing yet? well it's probably because of behavior like that that i don't get sick very often. as a kid i always abided by the five second rule and my immune system is stellar!

50:365 whoa these guys are awesome!

50:365 whoa these guys are awesome!

saw these guys as i was walking down the street today. the picture does them no justice. they are gigantic and fluffy as can be.

me: what are their names?
older gentleman: Bart and Lisa
me: like from the Simpsons?
older gentleman: yep
me: forreal? you watch that?
older gentleman (with a serious look on his face): yes. why wouldn't i?

hmmm if you saw him you'd question it too.

47:365 bi-rite soft serve: salted caramel and chocolate edition

47:365 bi-rite soft serve: salted caramel and chocolate edition

whoops! i skipped the 47th day, so i'm filling it in with something delicious. today i roamed around the mission area and found myself in need of ice cream. i headed to bi-rite but, naturally, the line was insanely long. i'd never tried their soft serve so i headed to the little side window to pick one up. the salted caramel in soft serve form is just as good as the salted caramel in ice cream form. having already eaten a sandwich, tackling this huge cone just wasn't going to happen. i tried to knock off 2/3 of it into the garbage can but sadly nearly all of it fell off and i was left with the tiniest amount of creaminess for my enjoyment. booooo!!
