tonight i spent the evening at Kim's house. as she cooked a scrumptious seafood curry for me, i helped her seven y.o. nephew do some homework. then i chatted with him about a lot of random things and tried to teach him to be generous. i felt a connection. "me and this kid are becoming friends," i thought. he then kindly drew me a "robot with a jacket on." i thought it was cute and thoughtful until i noticed he assigned it to "you." guess we aren't really buddies after all.

dear Passport, 
we've shared 10 long years full of greatness and adventure together but it's time to move on. we've been to China,  Thailand, Costa Rica, Paris, Italy and Mexico together. all of those experiences were unique and shared with various people. but you and me? we stuck together through it all. unfortunately sometimes you've gotta let go. so i'm sad to say that Cabo was our last adventure. but don't worry, you can hang out with my other ex-passport. and this time it's you, not me. it's not really my fault that you expire. but soon you'll see me with a newer, hopefully more good looking passport. if things go right the new one will have some visible eyebrows and hopefully looks less like a boy. don't be jealous. just be happy for the time we've spent together.

yesterday Mr. and Mrs. Hsiao arranged for the whole group to take a ride on a sunset cruise. it was pretty awesome. i mean...we saw whales and shit so that pretty much qualifies as a good time.

i met these two about two years ago when they welcomed me, a complete stranger, into their home while my cousin and i visited New York. in a short matter of time they somehow found a way to like me and my relationship with them flourished (haha! corny, i know). lucky for me they moved back to California a little over a year ago and i got to know them well enough that they offered me the chance to attend their amazing destination wedding. lemme tell you, these two are sort of THE perfect couple and have everything that anybody should desire in a relationship. today they made the world jealous.

awe hell yes! miss Marjie introduced me to this years ago at the Sacramento state fair. we made it an annual thing to trek out to the fair in search of our deliciously sweet and spicy mango. but sadly for the past couple of years we've gone back to seek it with no avail. the little stand was gone for good. so when i saw the fruit cart today i knew i had to get one. ripe and juicy, sweet, sour AND spicy! i ate it with enthusiasm and with Marjie in mind.
