this week's good times

some of this week's good times captured in pictures

---Lorraine's birthday happy hour(s) at Brickyard. hmm somehow i have zero pictures of the guys in attendance. whoops.

some of the girls, minus Lindsay
Ruby, Muri, Natty, myself and Lorraine

we took some of our x-ray students with us because they're awesome.
Bahar, Stella and Donna...oh, and there's Lindsay hiding in the back

server: who ordered the kamikazes?
me: the two asians at the end of the table. the ones that look the same. you know how they say "all asians look the same? well...there you go! there's some truth to that!"  (but they're sisters sooo...yeah.) they, of course, ordered the kamikazes.

happy birthday, friend!! love you and how mushy you get on your birthday telling us that you "luh errybody" so much!

quick stop for birthday cupcakes because why not?

---Paint Nite!! so much fun! step-by-step instructed paint session. i chose the ice cream night because food rules my world. why try to copy Monet when my heart lies with ice cream anyhow?

Marjie, Jo, myself

---Wild 94.9's Comedy Jam. i LOVE comedy jam. this is probably my fourth or fifth time attending and it's one of my favorite events to look forward to each year. Angela Johnson of the Vietnamese-nail-salon-bit-fame was my favorite of the night. with Little Lucca sandwiches, snacks, blankets and chairs, we were all ready for a night of laughter!

myself, Marjie, Jinell, Natty

check out the beautiful cotton candy clouds that surrounded the event center

Uyen stopped by to say hello

recent happenings

after too many years spent not hanging out with the old carpool crew, we all finally got together! for two years through x-ray school, Jeff, Tony, Adrian and i all hung out in compact cars driving to and from Richmond to KPSAHS. each week one of us took the driving responsibility. for two years every single day at least one of them was late and i will never let them live it down. when it was my week to drive i threatened to leave them if they were late, and one time i actually left Tony behind. i can't remember, but i'll bet he just gave up and didn't go to class that day. sounds about right. ironically, this night that we met up, i (for once) was the one who was late. over time these guys became my older brothers. fairly younger than them, i was like the naive, green girl in the car who didn't know movies, music and presidents that they referred to. when you spend hourrrrrs in cramped quarters with three guys, you really get to know each other. i've also gotten to know their wives who are all awesome! it's too bad that we all don't hang out more often, but it was just like old times with these guys.
-------------------------------------

a bunch of us did the Rave Run (more like the Rave Stroll) in San Jose this past weekend. it sounded like a really fun idea but unfortunately it didn't live up to the hype. the ground was really gravelly and dusty and there were so many effing people that all you could do was walk. it turned out to be pretty uneventful but we still had a decent time overall i suppose.

--------------------------------

you guys! check out Off The Grid Picnic in the Presidio. it's sort of like Off The Grid except half of the vendors on the lawn are that of the farmers market variety and the other half are of local restaurants serving up delicious eats. also there are guys walking around with wagons that bring mimosa kits, beers and wines to you as a "blanket service." it's dog/kid friendly so bring the whole family! it's a great way to spend a day hanging out with people you like, taking your time to just hang out and try a bunch of good food. i personally enjoyed the oxtail over grits from Streatery and the poutine from Fins on the Hoof. favorites like The Creme Brulee Cart and El Porteno are also there. it's waiting there for you every Sunday through October so make sure to check it out at least once! a tip: get there after 1pm when the sun begins to break away the San Francisco clouds.

recent happenings

last week we celebrated my roommate coworker friend Natty's (best terrible nickname ever) birthday. the Super Crew went to Social Kitchen for what seemed like was going to be a pretty tame night. but after rounds of shots magically appeared (i'm blaming you, Edgar) we got to know each other maybe too much (who's your favorite tech? oh, and also what's your number? how the eff did that happen? p.s. we all think you're lying, Tan! good times, friends!

i'm pretty sure it's okay that Ruby photobomb's any of Natgar's pictures considering she's Edgar's favorite.

wtf Tan, your head looks like a shrunken head next to these guys.

Uyen is the reason we ever get kicked out of places due to the high frequency of her voice whilst intoxicated. good thing Ron has the hookup and we'll never get kicked out of there.

Adrian made it!

coffee crunch cake from Yasukochis. the best! i think she wished for the Niners to win, but that turned out to be a no go.

saw Muse for the fourth time and they still kick as much ass as the first time. their concerts are like a cracked out, thoughtfully orchestrated light show that blows minds. when i told Kris that she said "clearly you've never been to a rave," which i am happy to say i have indeed not been. and i'm gonna go on a whim and say that the movement and coordination between light, stage and music is much more thought out than that of a rave. aside from that, Matt Bellamy's voice is always on point and oh so very unique. while i'm not loving newer Muse music (although Madness is a pretty great song), the old stuff still ranks among my favorite music.

hope you all had a good weekend! we didn't win the Super Bowl but that was a hell of a game, right??

Lorraine's birthday

happy birthday, Lorraine!!
more fun times with my coworkers friends!

you know how i know i love Lorraine? because i was willing to purposely endure second hand smoke when i went outside to hang out with her because i thought she was standing outside by herself. she then told me "you're my favorite Chinese because you're happy and i think you can drive." haha!!

Uyen, myself, Ruby, Edgar, Natasha, Tan

David made it out with us for the first time ever! aaaaaand i think it was his first time ever drinking as well, as evidenced by the red face only after drinking half of a screwdriver. what a champ!

grillz

we made David retake a photo with a smile after he'd taken a picture in the typical Chinese fashion. and for those who are unaware, "typical Chinese fashion" = with a stern face. then i made the chinese face. and Tan made whatever face that one is. haha.

what a good picture of us, minus that disatrous table of stuff.

chinese picture. no smiles. no emotion.

the boys. see, David naturally does the chinese face.

i forgot wtf was going on here. T was imitating somebody and it was hysterical. too bad i can't remember what it was about...

Tan's signature move

David, sobering up but looking like he never wants to go out with us ever again. i think we scared scarred him after forcing him to two-step with us.

cheezes

overly excited about something i was witnessing, but i'll keep that off the internet to save face for said witnessed people.

a good picture of everybody but myself. it's okay though bc this is probably how i looked half the night anyway.

haha. why you cry?

photo bomb!

lol! what a good night!
